Preparing a critically ill patient for transport can be a daunting task. In addition to the on-going care of the patient, there are requirements for additional documentation and special preparations that must be made to ensure safe and seamless transports. This clinically focused presentation assists the nurse in preparing patients for critical care transport and discusses the connection between pre-transport interventions and the physiology of flight.

Discuss the major components required for an EMTALA compliant transfer
Discuss the basics of flight physiology
List 3 safety measures to take when working around EMS helicopters
